Appointment of Trustee – Dilworth Trust Board

Simon Curran

The Dilworth Trust Board has appointed old boy Simon Curran to replace Derek Firth as Trustee, from 23rd February 2015.

Simon Curran was at Dilworth for seven years from 1986 to 1992. In his last year at school, he was Deputy Head Prefect, Sportsman of the Year and Performer of the Year.

Following graduation with first class honours in Business Management from Waikato University, Simon became a brand manager, and then International Marketing Manager for Lion Nathan.  He then moved to Saatchi and Saatchi in London as an account and business director, during which time Simon was personally invited to join the late Sir Peter Blake in his blakexpeditions campaign, working directly with Sir Peter to build the partnerships, profile and ultimately the finances to run his environmental crusade.

On his return to New Zealand in 2005, Simon Curran co-founded and became Chief Executive of Shine, a communications and strategy consultancy based in Auckland.  This company has been recognised as a leading independent brand consultancy - twice named the National Business Review 5-star Agency; and once named Fairfax Media’s Agency of the Year.   Shine’s client list includes some of New Zealand and Australia’s top companies.

Additionally, as an entrepreneur, Simon has been involved in co-founding Northwest Holdings, one of the country’s leading hospitality groups, including Ostro, Ebisu, Tyler Street Garage and the Seafarers Members Club.

As an involved old boy, Simon currently sits as a Trustee of the Dilworth Old Boys Centennial Foundation Trust, a fund managed to assist current and former students of the school.

The Board is very fortunate to be able to attract someone whose success and impressive CV is considerably based on the education and life skills developed at Dilworth, and an old boy who is so committed to the long-term prosperity of the Trust and School.
